The City of Chattanooga’s Office of Family Empowerment is suspending public access to its offices effective at the close of business today, Monday, March 23.
Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of OFE staff and clients, OFE offices are closed to the public to reduce exposure and spread of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
Staff will be working remotely to maintain contact with clients and provide limited services.
These services include:
-
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which provides assistance for income-eligible families with home energy bills. Applicants can pick up an application outside OFE offices or access it online at http://www.chattanooga.gov/youthandfamily/office-of-family-empowerment.
-
Information and Referrals, we will continue to help clients with questions about resources available to them through our partners such as United Way 2-1-1 and other agencies and answer questions about specific OFE programs.
At this time, OFE's rent and mortgage assistance program has been suspended until we are back in full operations. However, those who have been impacted by City mandates can find resources at https://connect.chattanooga.gov/covid/covidresources/.
For any other questions or assistance please contact the OFE office at 423 643-6434.
