Carl A. Guice, Jr., 84, passed away on March 23, 2020. 

He was raised from the age of 11 by the TN Baptist Children’s Home in Franklin, Tn., and was a 1953 graduate of Franklin High School, where he played on the state’s champion High School football team.  Carl was also a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a member of the all TN Marine Platoon.  He was employed for 31 years with Combustion Engineering, finally retiring from Steam & Control Systems in Chattanooga.  Carl was an avid sportsman, enjoying bowling, golf, hunting and fishing.  He coached many softball, basketball and baseball teams over the years, and was affectionately known as “coach”.  He was active with the Harrison United Methodist Men, as well as a Sunday school teacher and choir member.  Carl was also a volunteer for Contact Ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl, Sr. and Eva Guice.

Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Guice; son, Corky (Beth) Guice; daughter, Carla (Lynn) Humphries; brother, Jackie Guice; sisters, Wanda Kennedy and Bertha Odam; grandchildren, Nathan and Sonja Humphries and Amelia and Eleanor Guice.

In accordance with the Mayor’s Executive Order, there will be no public visitation at the funeral home, and a service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the TN Baptist Children’s Home, at 1310 Franklin Road, Brentwood, Tn. 37027.
