He was born in Harlingen, Tx., in 1939 to Woodrow and Doris Cherry Watson.  William “Bill went to Rice University in Houston, Texas and then completed his education at the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He became a Certified Public Account and worked in that field for 50 years.

In Boulder, Bill met the love of his life, Carol McBride, and they married two years later on July 29, 1960.  They moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1961 where he went into the family business with his father who was also a Certified Public Accountant. He was a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Bill was a gentle, caring, and compassionate man with a deep and abiding love for The Lord.  He was a member of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen, Texas, the Angleton Church of Christ in Angleton, Texas and lastly, GraceBridge Church in Chattanooga. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, 3 children, Curtis (Pamela) Watson, Elizabeth (Curtis) Tomme, Craig (Betty) Watson, and four grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Kimberly, and Joshua Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill loved God’s handiwork, especially the seashore, the mountains, the night sky and birds.

A private graveside service will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Minister Travis Sharpe officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at NHC of Chattanooga, the nurses and doctors at Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center for the care they gave him in his last months and days.

Chattanooga Food Bank or GraceBridge Church’s Father’s Table are suggested for memorials.
