Today the USPS reported they could not deliver a package to my address. Fortunately, I was able to reach the post office before it closed at 4 p.m. The clerk informed me that new rules from up on high came down. Now the USPS mail delivery contractors are not allowed to back up. They must park on the road and walk up the driveway. This obviously is impractical when the driveway is 200 yards long, not to mention uphill. And even if permitted to drive up to the house, the large turnaround area at the house does require one to back up to get the car pointed back down the driveway.
I’m told the local office has requested the head office to modify their order to reflect low density realities, but until then, online ordering from Amazon for anything that won’t fit in the mailbox means making the two mile run to the post office before it closes.
I already have to avoid ordering from Sam’s Club or Walmart as they use Fedex and Fedex for some reason insists on delivering my packages to a neighbor, perhaps because their house is near the road even after I upgraded the address numbers on the mailbox?
