June Burkhart Plunkett, 83, of Hixson, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

She was born on June 3, 1936, the youngest of 10 children. In 1970, she married Norman L. Plunkett. She and Norman enjoyed gardening and traveling. June was known as a wonderful mother who loved to cook and do for others. Her faith guided her in all aspects of her life. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Walter Burkhart and seven of her siblings, Norman, James Walter Jr., Mabel, Mildred, Marjorie, Mary and Marceil.

Survivors include her husband, Norman; two sisters, Martha Sue Smith and Phyllis Waller; children, John Plunkett (Angela) and Mamie Fulk (Daniel); stepsons, Leslie Plunkett (Linda) and Mike Plunkett; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family funeral services on Wednesday, May 27, in the funeral home chapel with Jerome Frandle and Robert Bishop officiating.  Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Hearth Hospice, 513 Georgia Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403. The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice for their attentive care to June.
