Attollee Viall
Attollee Warner Boynton Viall (Cuddie) died peacefully at her home on Signal Mountain, Tennessee, on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
She was born on July 12, 1931 in Chicago, to the late Irene Church Warner Boynton and John Edson Boynton. Her family moved to Nashville, in the fall of 1931, when her father became head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Vanderbilt University.
She graduated from the Ward Belmont Preparatory School in 1948 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Vanderbilt University in 1952, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She met her husband, the late Paul Jackson Viall, Jr. at Vanderbilt, and they were married at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville on June 10, 1952.
For over 50 years she cherished the friendships provided by her beloved bridge group. She was known for her quick wit and her gift of inspiring words she would write to family and friends.
She was a Sustainer Emeritus member of the Junior League of Chattanooga, a past president of the former Chattanooga Symphony Guild from 1965-1966, a member of the Chickamauga Chapter of the DAR, and a member of the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Attollee Marie Viall of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Irene Viall Ganter (John) of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; three grandchildren – Elizabeth Viall Napolitano (Jack) of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and twin grandsons John Morrison Ganter (Jack) of Washington, D.C. and Phillip McKenzie Ganter of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and great-granddaughter, Emma Cate Napolitano of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. A son, Paul Jackson Viall III (Skip) was killed in an airplane accident in 1990.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery on Wednesday, May 27, at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jack Ganter, Phillip Ganter, Jack Anthony Napolitano, Richard Owen Scales, Jr., David Alexander King, and Stuart Congleton King.
A memorial service will be held at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church on Signal Mountain on a later date once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
