Denman Edward Elder, Sr.
Denman Edward Elder, Sr., 70, of Ringgold, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020, in a local hospital.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1950, in Lompoc, Ca., to the late Morris Edward and Linnie Elizabeth Elder.
Mr. Elder was a 1968 graduate of the Kirkman High School Golden Eagles.
Denman had an amazing mind and could have been an inventor of many things. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #114 in Harrison and was Master of the Lodge in 1985. He retired from Williams Enterprises of Georgia in February, 2017, following 47 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
As a friend, one couldn’t ask for anyone better. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his life.
His granddaughter, Auriana Merren preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jane Elder; children, Denman E. (Ashley) Elder, Jr. of Ft. Oglethorpe, Thomas B. Elder of Cleveland, Wendy Patterson of Harrison, Geoff (Sarah) McRae of Signal Mountain, and Madeena McRae of Ringgold; siblings, Robert E. Elder of Harrison, Pat Paige of West Birmingham, MI, Terri Howard of Columbus, Ga., and Marilyn (Kenny) Loggins of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Talan Elder, Landon Merriman, Ashley Patterson, Emily Cramer, Dylan Cramer, Elizabeth Merren, Emily McRae, and Jessey McRae; lifelong friend, Patricia Barrows; and four nieces.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, from 6-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Masonic graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. Reverend Michael McRae will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Blaylock, Jr., Steve Edwards, Jr., Joe Barrows, Joe Hedrick, Nathan Poteet, and Jimmy McCurry. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Standard Iron and IFI Corporation.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family is requesting that you adhere to the CDC regulations of social distancing when attending the visitation and graveside service. Face masks are being recommended but not required.
