David Ray Downey, 62, of Harrison, was born on February 24, 1958, to Richard and Phyllis Downey, and moved to his new mansion on Sunday, July 12, 2020. 

David loved his family, church and God with all his heart.  He fought many long painful years of cancer, but finally found peace forever.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Downey; sister, Teresa Jo Downey; maternal grandmother, Billie Mercer Rains, and paternal grandparents, Willard and Edith Downey.

He left behind many broken hearts including his son, David Blake (Marisa) Downey; grandson who was the absolute love of his life, Landon Ray Downey; loving mother, Phyllis Downey; brothers, Philip (Brenda) Downey and Paul (Darleen) Downey; several special nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Savannah Bay Baptist Church, 8018 Ooltewah-Georgetown Road, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, in Ooltewah Cemetery.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
