Tennessee Needs Bill Hagerty In U.S. Senate To Work With President Trump To Restore Our Economy

As we work to rebound from the economic toll of the coronavirus, it is necessary to elect conservative leaders who understand the importance of working towards a balanced budget, creating jobs, protecting small businesses and incentivizing companies to do business in the United States rather than taking their investments and jobs overseas.

With the primary election less than a month away, it is clear that Tennesseans must send a conservative ally to the U.S. Senate who has the expertise to revive our local and national economies. Only one candidate has that expertise and experience.  In addition to his successful record as a businessman providing jobs in the private sector, Bill Hagerty has proven he can positively impact economic growth in the public sector.

Bill served as Tennessee’s Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, playing a key role in putting our state’s economy on the national map.  I had the privilege of working closely with then Commissioner Hagerty as the regional director of economic development for southeastern Tennessee. Under his leadership and with the more regionally-focused structural organization he put in place, southeastern Tennessee and the state as a whole prospered.

For years, Tennessee has led the country in economic growth.  Our economic prowess is perceived as a given now, but that wasn’t always the case. During the last challenging economic time for Tennessee, Bill stepped up to serve our state by recruiting companies to come here and to expand here. That created direct measurable results, with unprecedented growth in family-wage jobs for Tennesseans and in investment in our state.  His leadership not only produced short term gains, but also built the foundation for growth in our state for years to come. He has the vision and the experience to do the same on a national level. We must make sure he has the opportunity to do so.

In Bill’s most recent role as U.S. Ambassador to Japan, he worked alongside allied leaders of  the third-largest economy in the world, to develop deals that would promote economic prosperity for both of our countries. He was instrumental in helping to pass the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement, in which we made great strides in our relationship and furthered economic development in the global market.

Currently, Bill is serving on President Trump’s Economic Revival Task Force, where he is working closely with the President to get our economy going again and bring our critical supply chains home from China. We need Bill’s leadership in the Senate because he will continue this work to make sure China is held accountable for the economic havoc their regime has caused, and he will incentivize American companies to do business in and provide jobs in America.

In the Senate, Bill will work to cut taxes and regulations that burden them and will continue to promote competition in the global market. Additionally, Bill will fight to pass a balanced budget amendment that will put us in a well-positioned place to recover and thrive.

From the private sector, to the state level, to the international market, Bill has always worked to create jobs and grow our economy.  He is the Senator we need now to grow our economy and help our fellow conservatives lead the Great American Comeback.

The choice in August is clear: We need a fiscal conservative businessman who has the know-how and experience to recover our economy and create jobs.  Bill Hagerty, President Trump’s choice for the U.S. Senate, fits the job description. That is why I am joining the President in supporting him.
