Melba Ruth Roderick Anderson, 83, born October 2, 1936, walked thru the gates of heaven into freedom on July 4, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
She was a hard working, loving mother who was devoted to and loved her family and friends. She loved life to the fullest and she loved being with people. She never met a stranger. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Lucy Roderick; siblings, Mary Ann Roderick, Wayne Roderick, Joyce Fox, Hattie Mae Massengill and James Roderick; one grandson, Brad Wills; and two son-in-laws, Randy Stephens and Larry Johnson.
She leaves behind, to cherish her love and memories, six daughters, Melba (Kevin) Wills, Wanda Lane, Cynthia Stephens, Connie Andrews, Sherri (Blake) Parham and Venita (Dave) Farr, all of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, JC (MarySue) Roderick; sister, Shelba Jean Cole; her longtime childhood friends, Anita Thacker and Nancy Ann Massey; cousin, Margaret Sharretts, from Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Special thanks, honor and appreciation to our sister, Sherri Parham, who sacrificed her time and family to take great care of our mom. Words cannot express how thankful, blessed and grateful we are to have her in our lives. We love you and appreciate you more than you know.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8 from 5-8 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 3072 Harrison Pike in Cleveland. The celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 9 at 3 p.m., with a short one hour viewing prior to the service. Interment will take place at Earls Cemetery in White Oak, with grandsons serving as pallbearers: Brandon Stephens, Chris Watson, Shawn Johnson, John Wills, Daniel Robinson and Elijah Rayner.
Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing and masks will be required.
