Great Week To Be A Dynamo

  • Monday, August 10, 2020

Even in this crazy mixed up year that is 2020 occasionally we have events to celebrate. If you graduated from Chattanooga High School on Third Street or Dallas Road or our successor school Center for Creative Arts last week was one to remember.

Two famous Dynamos, Charles Coolidge and Halie Gass Forstner, celebrated birthdays last week. Mr Coolidge, who was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, celebrated his 99th birthday. He is a member of the CHS Class of 1939, the oldest MOH recipient and one of only two WWll recipients still alive. Happy birthday, Mr. Coolidge, and thanks for your service to our country.

Mrs. Forstner, who is a member of the CHS Class of 1930, celebrated her 109th birthday. The actual date was in March but due to the coronavirus was postponed until last week. Mrs. Forstner is the oldest person in Tennessee and the oldest CHS alum. She has also been selected for induction into the CHS Hall of Fame. Since we have no idea when we can have our next function she will be presented her plaque by Linda Mines and Todd Gardenhire. Congratulations, Halie, you are an inspiration to all of us.

One hundred and nine and 99, must have been something in the water over there on Third Street!

Chairman, CHS Hall of Fame Committee
