Approval Given For Drury Hotel At Site Of Former New Hope Presbyterian Church At 7301 Shallowford Road

  • Tuesday, August 18, 2020

The City Council on Tuesday approved zoning to allow a Drury Hotel to be built at 7301 Shallowford Road near I-75.

The location was the longtime site of New Hope Presbyterian Church.

The council approved rezoning from R-1 to C-4.

The hotel developers will be required to reconstruct the eastbound left turn lane and add a dedicated southbound right turn lane.

Ken Defoor, who developed the nearby Waterside development, said he would have preferred another use other than a hotel at the site.

He said Waterside will not use Napier Road, which is by the hotel site.

The hotel property includes 4.5 acres.

Parking will be in the rear.
