Joseph "Joe" Wayne Hendricks, 84, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Friday morning, September 11, 2020. 

 

He was born in Hamilton County, Chattanooga, on June 4, 1936, to Lena Rivers Moore Hendricks and James Gaither Hendricks (both deceased).

 

Joseph joined the Army in 1961 with his love of helping people. He served in the Germany. Joseph was a member of Local Millwrights. Joseph loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing and playing cards in the casino with family and friends. His most favorite pastime was being with his family. 

 

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Huckaby, Sara Stacey Giles and Sonya Tracey Smith, five grandchildren, Brandi Bores, Ashlee Meredith, Joseph Giles, Jacob Keeton and Joshua Keeton.  Two Great-grandchildren, McKinlee Meredith and Silas Keeton and numerous cousins. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hendricks, parents, Lena and Jim Hendricks, two sisters, Barbara Jean Dodds and Virginia Doris Rapier, four brothers, James Franklin "Sonny", George Garland "Buddy", Robert Eugene "Genie" and Billy Edwin "Bill" or "Sweet William.” and Charles (Doc) Hendricks.

 

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.

 

Family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday, from 4-8 p.m. 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Birds of Paradise Sanctuary & Rescue in Bradenton, Fl.
