Jonathan Davenport (#49) of Blairsville, Ga., denied Texan Tyler Erb Sunday, leading flag to flag the 50 lap Wild West Shootout finale at Arizona Speedway in his "Nutrient/Longhorn" Super Late Model.
The victory worth $25,000 was JD's third of the six races in eight days out in the Arizona desert, which garnered the former three time Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model National Champion a $10,000 bonus from Keyser Manufacturing.
Davenport also won the points championship for the week which paid an additional $3,000.
Erb had to rally from 11th at the start and made things interesting muscling past Brian Shirley and Ricky Thornton, Jr. on a mid-race restart, to pull behind JD.
Most of the top rated SLM competitors will make the 1,900 mile trek from outside Tucson, to Ellisville, Fl., as the LODLM series opens up the 2021 season next Friday and Saturday with a pair of $12,000 to win races at All-Tech Raceway.
An update was released early Sunday morning officially disqualifying Douglasville racer Michael Page from his apparent $10,000 victory Saturday night at Volusia Speedway Park outside of Daytona, for a motor infraction in the 604/Crate Late Model race. Florida racer Kyle Bronson was elevated from second to winner with Page being credited for 26th overall.
