Carroll D. Groner, 92, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 2, 2021.

He was a well-known real estate professional. His business career was spent as a Realtor, Home Builder, and Land Developer. He first entered the business in 1951, when he joined his father in Cherokee Realty Co.

He opened his own firm, Groner Realty Co. in 1953. He developed several subdivisions and built many homes.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force assigned to the SAC.

He served as a commissioner in Ridgeside (Shepherd Hills) during the 1970s.

He was the original chairman (+4 years) of the MLS System for the Chattanooga Board of Realtors when it was first introduced to Chattanooga in 1957. In 2007, the Tennessee Real Estate Commission recognized him for over 50 years of service and contributions to the real estate community.

He was a Baptist by choice and saved by grace. He was a longtime and active member of Brainerd Baptist Church for over 50 years.

He was normally a quiet man around business clients and generally let others talk while he listened.

He was a down-to-earth person and avoided the limelight. He had a tender heart and didn’t seek recognition or expect any credit for himself. He was a man of many talents.

Mr. Groner was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Dorothy M. “Dot” Groner on October 3, 2004; parents, Barkley G. and Annie (McDaniel) Groner; and sister, Jean G. Henshaw.
