Marleita Carmichael
Marleita Roark Carmichael, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
She was born in Birchwood, Tn., the fifth of 11 children of the late William Grover and Willie Myrtle Roark. Although she loved her large family, returning home often, Marleita pursued her dream of seeing the country by working in several states. She eventually married her husband of 39 years, Hughie Glenn Carmichael and they settled in Augusta, Ga., until his death in 1992, after which time, she returned to Hixson, to be near her siblings. She resided there until a few years ago and has since been cared for and loved by her family and friends, residing with a nephew's family in Spring City, Tn.
Marleita was also preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Reuel and WG. Roark, sisters, Trudy Davenport, Ola Mae Neal, Ruth Henry, Addie Gross and Clara V. Faulkner and two siblings who passed in infancy.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Edna Roark and a brother-in-law, Adam W. Gross, nephews and nieces.
A private family graveside services will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest in Hixson, with Pastor Bob Shafer officiating.
