Walter Wilkey
Walter Johnson “Red” Wilkey, 94, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Red was pipe fitter with DuPont for over 35 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Rainsville, AL. Red was a former City Alderman in Rainsville, Tn. He was a World War II veteran, when he was serving in the United States Navy.
Red was preceded in death by parents, Earl Wilkey and Minnie Page Wilkey; first wife and mother of his children, Muriel Wilkey; second wife, Debra Wilkey; son-in–law Ronnie Raper; brothers and sisters.
Red is survived by his sons, Jerry (Pam) Wilkey of Dayton, and David (Patti) Wilkey of Soddy Daisy; daughter, Phillis Raper of Dayton; grandchildren Chris (Kathy) Wilkey of Ringgold, Michelle Hastings of Dayton, Leigh Ann (Scott) Shadden of Dayton, Eric Wilkey of Dayton, and Tanner Wilkey of Knoxville; great–grandchildren, Taylor (Alanah) Wilkey, Jordan (Savannah) Wilkey, Drew (Taylor) Wilkey, DeWayne Megaris, Logan Hastings, Millie Shadden, Aiden Wilkey and Ella Wilkey; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy Wilkey, and sisters, Virginia Matthew and Sandi Hall.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. at Solomon’s Porch Church, 9125 Rhea County Highway, Dayton, TN 37321, with Pastor and niece, Beverly Louallen officiating.
