Virginia M. Cox, 86, passed peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 4, 2021, surrounded by family.

Virginia was the embodiment of a deep and powerful love. It was this single, God fearing woman who brought forth multiple generations of Christ loving warriors. She taught this family to not only love Jesus, but to love others like he did. She also taught us discipline in praying and reading our Bible every day, regardless of how hard life gets. Her favorite holiday was Easter so it only made sense that she went to be with our Lord on Resurrection Sunday. If she were with us today, there is only one thing left that she would want to do. If you are reading this, you are absolutely loved and adored by Jesus. If you don't know who that is, He's the Son of God who died on a cross for you so that your sins may be forgiven, and you can spend eternity with Him in heaven. To her, life was all about winning one more soul for the Kingdom, and that is what she will be forever remembered for.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Cox; son, Ray Allen Cox; siblings, Allen Reed, Bobby Reed, Betty Reed-Knowles, Margaret Reed-Chatti, Juanita Reed-Sneed, and Clankston Freeman, grandsons, James Joshua Cox and Jon Lucas Laymon.

She was survived by her children, David Cox and his wife, Robin; Robert Cox and wife, Barbara; Deborah Pack-Cox and her husband, Rick; Teresa Cox-Kirk; Janice Cox-Laymon; Kenny Cox and his wife, Lisa, as well as 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Receiving of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at Legacy Funeral Home at 11 a.m., immediately followed by the celebration of life at 12 p.m. and graveside burial at Pleasant View Cemetery after the service.

Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy Daisy, 423 843-2525.
