Foam fingers, noise makers and silly string greeted the Chattanooga Mocs’ soccer team as they boarded the bus for Greenville, S.C., Friday afternoon outside of their home field.
UTC athletics department staff, coaches and student-athletes were on hand on a warm, sunny afternoon to cheer on the Mocs as the team departed for the Southern Conference Championship semifinal against Furman.
Chattanooga finished the season 7-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in SoCon play for third, its best finish in program history.
UTC started the season with a shutout victory against Northern Alabama before beginning league action.
The Mocs opened league play with a scoreless draw against Samford at home and went on to win their next four home matches for an unbeaten 5-0-1 mark in Chattanooga. UTC split its road matches with wins at Wofford and VMI while falling at Furman and UNCG.
