Joseph R. DeArdo, Jr., 62, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at home on Monday May 10, 2021. Formerly of Wintersville, Oh., Joey was born in Toronto, Oh. on April 12, 1959 to the late Joseph, Sr. and Connie (Maggi) DeArdo.

Joey graduated from Wintersville High School in 1978. Joey loved helping others. He was involved with the Boy Scouts early on and also was a firefighter with the Wintersville Vol. Fire Dept. Joey was part of the original group that founded Wintersville’s “Thunder in the Valley” fireworks celebration. Joey had a passion for building and crafts. Joey's many passions included custom weaved baskets, candle making, wood crafts, stained glass and much much more. Joey also served as a Wintersville councilman alongside his father, previously.

Joey loved camping, the outdoors and traveled with his wife, Denise, before settling down at his current home in Cleveland.

Surviving is his wife, Denise (Weir) DeArdo, of Cleveland; his daughter, Megan DeArdo, of New Castle, Pa.; his son, Steven (Mindy) DeArdo, of Ohio; and brothers, Michael DeArdo, of Wheeling, WV and Paul (Bobbi) DeArdo, of Wintersville, Oh. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews and grandson.
