Sampling at Taco Mamacitas
Sloppy Jose nachos
History: Taco Mamacitas is a Mexican restaurant located on the Northshore in a partially U-shaped shopping center across from the Post Office. It opened in 2008 and is one of the many unique dining creations of the Monen Family Group.
First Impressions: The way to my heart: Buy me tacos, make me tacos, or be tacos.
As a Mexican food connoisseur, it takes a lot to impress me on the taco front. Taco Mamacitas did not fall short. At night Taco Mamacita is lively and fun with upbeat music and a beautiful patio. The staff was courteous, the menus were easy to read, and the restaurant had plenty of room for the evening crowd.
Food: The taco selection was everything I expected and more with options from a traditional taco to a sloppy Jose taco. Pa had the sloppy Jose nachos and he scarfed all of it down save for a few jalapenos. Grandma had the steak taco and the onion rings on top were delicious. I had the Memphis Taco, which had a Southern BBQ spiciness, and the Sloopy Jose Taco, which was just like my momma's sloppy joes. The Mexican street corn was the only side we got to try and it was sweet while also cheesy, which is always a fun combo.
Overall: Taco Mamacitas has a great environment and even greater food. It’s a restaurant that does both family friendly and girls night vibes well.
