Retired From Chattanooga City Public Schools After More Than 35 Years

Winfred James Singleton, 81, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, surrounded by his children.

 

He was a native of Marlow, Tn., and lived in Chattanooga for over 50 years. He retired from Chattanooga City Public Schools with 35+ years of service.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Linda Singleton and his mother, Eula Singleton Mercer.

He was a devoted Dad to three children and their spouses, Donna Singleton, Deanna (Stoney) McNabb, and James (Sarah) Singleton. He was especially a proud Pappy, to three grandchildren, Jaggar McNabb, Levi McNabb, and Maddie Singleton. Survivors include his brothers, Bryan and Clark Mercer and sisters, Frances Freeman and Laura Moore along with extended family members. 

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
