Eleanor L. Calloway, was born on January 5, 1944, to the late Eddie Lee Lott and Lillian Irene Billingsley Lott.  She was educated in the Chattanooga City Schools System and a 1961 graduate of Howard High School.  She graduated from Tennessee State University in 1965, and later received her Master’s Degree in Education from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1987. 

Her work career started in Bad Herzfeld, West Germany, as a substitute teacher.  She later moved back to Chattanooga where she began teaching for Chattanooga City Schools where she faithfully worked for 38 years until retirement in 2005.   

She was a faithful member of New Zion Worship Center where she sung in the choir, taught Sunday school, and worked diligently with the Youth Ministry, worked with the Kitchen Ministry, and whatever other tasks her hands found to do.  

She departed this earthly life on January 12, 2022.  

Preceding her in death were her father, Eddie Lee Lott; mother, Lillian Irene Billingsley Lott and brother, Edward L. Lott.  

She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons, Ralph Calloway and Ronald Calloway; two sisters, Patricia Lott and Margaret (Cornell) Hayes; four grandchildren, Danyelle Calloway, Tapaynga Calloway, Darrius Calloway, and Analea Calloway; three great-grandchildren, Colby Robertson-Calloway, Lillian Kidd and Levi Kidd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.  

Public viewing will be held from 9–11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service in the chapel. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
