Charles Vines White, lll, 65, passed away on October 4, 2022, in Portland, Oregon.

 

He was born to Charles, Vines White, Jr., and Mary Coghlan White in Chattanooga, on October 2, 1957.

 

He grew up in Lookout Mountain, Ga., and lived the last 25 years in Ocean Park, Wa.

 

Charles was a graduate of Lookout Mountain Elementary School, The McCallie School and attended the University of Alabama and Austin Peay State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.

 

He was active in his local Ocean Park community where he and his wife Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and living between the lake and ocean fronts of the west coast. He never met a stranger and was kind and friendly to all he met, especially those he felt were in need.

 

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Cobb White and his father, Charles Vines White, Jr.

 

He is survived by his son, Charles Peyton White of Moody, Al., grandchildren, Dylan White and Emily White of Bessemer, Al., mother, Mary Coghlan White of Lookout Mountain, brother, Robert White of Lookout Mountain, Ga., sister, Clare White (Eck) Gruber of Lookout Mountain, Tn., and niece, Lindsay (Dennis) Vandergrift of Trussville, Al.

 

A private burial will occur at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Ocean Beach Hospital and Oregon City Health Center.
