Kimika Deshawna Chappell
Kimika “Mika” Deshawna Chappell, 47, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in a local hospital.
She was a 1993 graduate of Brainerd High School. Kimika received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was a member of Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church.
Kimika was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Henry and Lillie Mae Kelley and Mary Ellen Porter Chappell.
Survivors include her parents, Charlie and Catherine Chappell; brothers, Roderick (Erica) Chappell of Atlanta, GA and Charles Chappell of Chattanooga; sister, Felicia Chappell Jackson of Chattanooga; aunts, Lizzie Allen, Jeanette Kelley, Barbara Kelley, Bernice Swoopes, Willene Hawkins all of Chattanooga, and Gwendolyn Frye of Detroit, MI; great-aunt, Nadine Cooper of Covington, GA; nieces, Ebone` Chappell of Nashville, TN, Cameron Chappell, and Peyton Chappell, both of Atlanta; nephews, Brandon Jackson and Brian Jackson, both of Chattanooga; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends.
Kimika will lie in state on Friday, Dec. 9, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home and again on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Stephen Maurice Gilchrist as eulogist. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
