The Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center opened two years ago on Feb. 22, 2020.  Mr. Coolidge and his family toured the downtown museum on Grand Opening Day.

Mr. Coolidge received the Medal of Honor for his battlefield courage in World War II. The Medal of Honor recipient died April 6, 2021.  At the grand opening Mr. Coolidge was greeted by Desmond Doss, Jr., whose father was a recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Officials said in spite of COVID-19 attendance has been good.  They stress now is the time to book school field trips.  The Heritage Center is open seven days a week.

The Downtown Chattanooga museum, next to the Tennessee Aquarium,  has over 6,000 items to honor our heroes.  Collections include firearms, uniforms, personal scrapbooks, flags and many other items.

The Tennessee Association of Museums has recognized the Coolidge Heritage Center with four prestigious Awards.
