Billy Wayne Raines, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 21, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Manchester, Tn., on June 7, 1937, and moved to Hixson, at the age of three. Billy graduated from Hixson High School in 1956 and worked at DuPont for 25 years. He served in the Army National Guard for five years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Highland Sportsman Club where he also enjoyed cooking for their monthly dinners.
Billy’s main passion was his family which he always made a priority. His love for his wife, Laura, of 65 years was truly unmatched. Their devotion to each other was amazing and you never saw one without the other.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy Raines; his brothers, Royce (Millie) Raines, Darrell (Erlene) Raines, Thomas (Katherine) Raines, and Charles (Wanda) Raines; his sisters, Dean (Kermit) Croft and Betty (Kurt) Todd.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura; his son, Carlos (Emily) Raines of Soddy Daisy, Tn.; daughter Brenda (Doug) Silvers of Wytheville, Va.; grandsons, Dakota Silvers (Emily Sullivan) of Marlton, NJ; Jordan (Emily) Raines of Signal Mountain; and Logan Silvers (Kailee Patterson) of Dunlap; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Highway 153 on Thursday, March 24, at 2:30 p.m. with Douglas Silvers officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
