Allen Ray Denton, 78, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at a Chattanooga hospital.

He was born in Roane County on Dec. 8, 1943, the son of the late John Allen R. Denton and Rodella Profitt Denton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Denton. 

Allen lived all of his life in Dayton and retired from the Oster Corporation and Suburban Manufacturing as a supervisor. Allen loved UT football, NASCAR, watching westerns, working out and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the South Dayton Church of God. 

Allen is survived by his wife of 56 years Martha “Jane” (Tollett) Denton of Dayton, two daughters, Sheila Denton Benoit of Birmingham, AL and Kim Denton Powell of Knoxville, IL; his brother, John (Judy) Denton of Dayton and two sisters, Carol Denton Hankel of SC and Janice Denton Mowery of TN. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Rennie Benoit, Haven Powell, Aydin Powell and Levi Powell. 

Funeral services for Allen will be held on Monday, April 25, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with his pastors, Rev. Lane Davis and Rev. Jeff Page officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family has requested live plants, artificial plants, wind chimes, etc. instead of cut flowers. 

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends on Monday after noon.
