Lisa Gaye McDougal, 59, a lifelong resident of Athens, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 in a Cleveland hospital. She was born on May 7, 1962 in Athens, a daughter of the late William & Louise Wilcox. She was of the Christian faith and attended City Park Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. Lisa enjoyed her family and spending all the time she could with them. She will be forever remembered for the way she loved helping others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold McDougal and several siblings.
Lisa leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Samuel Stanley and his companion, Talitha Wristen; six grandchildren, Austin, Jayden, Payton, Emma, Eli and Sambo; one sister, Bernadine Wilcox Bottoms; four brothers, Randy Wilcox, Roger Wilcox, Victor Wilcox and Danny Ray Wilcox; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home, 400 S. White St. in Athens. A service celebrating her life will begin following the visitation time on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Danny Brown officiating. The interment and committal service will take place following the service in the Hammonds Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
