Flames Catcher Named Top In D2CCA

  • Thursday, May 12, 2022
Lee softball catcher Sidney Lee was named the top catcher in the South Region by the D2 College Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) and joined senior slugger Taylor De Adder on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team.

Lee and De Adder were both named to the All-GSC First Team. Lee was the league's top backstop as she hit .382, 12 doubles, five homers and 38 RBI. The Dadeville, Ala. native tallied a 1.100 OPS and .645 slugging percentage.

De Adder, affectionately known as the Canadian Crusher (She's from Maple Ridge, British Columbia) made the most of her senior campaign.
She hit .364 with seven doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBI, and a 1.122 OPS. De Adder walked 42 times and scored 44 runs.

"I'm very proud that they were able to be recognized by coaches in our region for their tremendous season," said Lee head coach Emily Russell. "We're certainly going to miss Taylor and the contribution she has made over the last four years, but the future is bright as evident by Sidney earning this honor as a freshman."

West Florida senior infielder Teala Howard and Valdosta State junior pitcher Samantha Richards were named the D2CCA South Region Softball Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
