On Saturday, June 4, 2002, Johnathan “Jamal” Allen, loving son and friend, passed away at the age of 20.

Jamal was born on Oct. 10, 2001, in East Ridge, Tn., to Tonya Mayfield McKissick and Stacey Leon Allen. Jamal was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School where he lettered in football four years.  Jamal was awarded the 1-A All -State award and was placed in the SPHS Hall of Fame for his accomplishment.  He was also certified in welding and was employed with Retail Direct.

Jamal was an amazing young man who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed Pirate football as a player and as a fan. Some of his hobbies included fishing, swimming, and shooting paint ball guns.  Jamal also, would like to take walks and talk about life with his close friends. Jamal was known for his quick wit and fun and compassionate spirit.  In the words of Jamal ”I love you” was his quote anytime he was leaving and saying bye.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmothers; Margie Stone and Louise Mayfield; great-grandfathers, J.W. Stone and Robert “Bob” Mayfield, and his grandfather Scottie “BAM” Hale. 

Survivors include his father, Stacey Leon Allen; mother, Tonya Mayfield McKissick; stepfather, Eddie McKissick, Sr.; sisters, Kilea Allen, Passion McKissick and stepsister, Saxson Mckissick; brothers; Jeremy Allison and stepbrother, Eddie Mckissick, Jr.; grandparents; Roger and Deborah Mayfield; grandmother, Velma Hale and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, at 2 p.m. (CST) at the South Pittsburg Church of God, 921 South Cedar Ave., South Pittsburg, Tn. 37380 with Rev. Darrell Nunley officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (CST) at the South Pittsburg Church of God prior to the service at the church.
