Right To Their Own Body? - And Response (2)

  • Friday, July 1, 2022

So the two Dems running for governor actually believe "women should have the right to their own body."

Well then I assume this means that prostitution should be legalized? How about the use of drugs? Hey, my body, my right.

Full disclosure, I am not opposed to abortion in the first 14 weeks because I think every child deserves to be born into a loving family that actually looks forward to their birth.

The so-called "right to privacy" exists only in the mind of liberal pundits when it serves  their purpose.

There's presently a situation in another state where a pregnant woman was diagnosed with cancer and needs to start chemotherapy. An abortion is necessary in order for the chemo to start. Abortions are now illegal in her state and she'll have to travel to another state to obtain the abortion, then return to begin chemo.

It's not a liberal vs conservative issue, Doug. It's just one of many situations where a woman might need an abortion for health reasons that will now be illegal to obtain. Depending on how extreme to law is in her state, should she return to that state, she could possibly face prosecution.

What if this woman was your child, grand child or some friend or close relative.  These new laws aren't going to selective. They're going to be across board.

I'm sure you're old enough to remember a case from the 1960s or early '70s that was in the news. It was the story of a local pregnant woman who went into labor. The policy at that time was to save the fetus even at the expense of the mother's life. In the end I believe both mother and fetus didn't survive. The husband had no say in the matter. As, it was policy at that time. Doug, conservatives won't be protected either in many states under these new abortion laws.

I know full well that anything I say about abortion will not change most peoples’ minds. Brenda Washington, you articulated well that both Democrats and Republicans are affected by the abortion laws. However, please don’t believe that it’s not the Democrat Party who carries the banner for pro-choice, which means pro-abortion. There are both Democrats and Republicans on both sides of the issue. However, the Democrats, as a party, will fight for the right to take the life of an innocent unborn child while the Republicans, as a party, will fight to stop the killing of the unborn.

The fight for abortion is really not about choice, rather escaping the consequences of your choice by taking away a lifetime of future choices for the most innocent and vulnerable of the human family. I know, Brenda, you cited an example of a woman who couldn’t start her chemo until she had an abortion. I can cite a case where a man, Luke Aikins, in July 30, 2016, jumped out of a perfectly good plane at 25,000 feet, and without a parachute. He did it on purpose and there was a 100’X100’ net set up for him to land in. He did and was safe in the end. Even so, we should not use this one example to believe it is safe to jump from 25,000 feet without a parachute, regardless.

The thing that I most consider is while the baby is developing in its mothers womb, it has all of the  characteristics of a human who is already born and outside the womb. The developing baby has the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, just as you and I do.

If you were to crack open an egg to fry it to eat, would you still eat it if it had even the least resemblance of a chicken. Why not, it’s not yet a chicken. It’s no different than believing the unborn is not a human being.
