Wes Cash
Wesley Wallace Cash III, 64, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022.
He loved his family dearly including his wife Elaine, his precious daughter Aden, and his mom Louise.
Wes also loved Baylor School, the University of Georgia, Manker Patten Tennis Club, and his many tennis students and buddies over all the years. Additionally, he loved the readings of M. Scott Peck, who was transformational in making Jesus come to life for Wes in a substantial way. Wes had an illustrious tennis career. He teamed with Pem Guerry to win numerous championships including three Baylor High School team championships in 1973, 1974, 1975, and they also won the 1975 National Interscholastic Championship. He then went to the University of Georgia where he played varsity tennis all 4 years, and won 12 individual and team championships while at Georgia. All of this led to Wes then playing on the ATP Professional Tennis Tour where he won three doubles tournaments from 1981-1983. Wes then truly excelled when he became a competitor on the senior tennis circuit. Teaming with the likes of doubles partners including Zan Guerry and Mark Vines, Wes won a total of 21 national tennis titles. Wes also invested a tremendous amount of time and interest into hundreds of people’s lives during his professional tennis teaching career at Manker Patten Tennis Club. Wes has been inducted into the Tennessee Tennis Hall of Fame, the Baylor High School Hall of Fame, and the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame. He was also selected as the Chattanooga Athlete of the Year in both 2013 and 2017.
Wes was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, his grandparents Wallace and Ruth Cash of this city, and Paul and Thelma Jarrett of Sharpsville, Indiana.
He is survived by his daughter Aden Jarrett Cash, his mother Louise J. Cash (Brainard Cooper), Uncle Brad and Aunt Jonell Hastings of Effingham, IL, Brother-in-law Brian Mansfield (wife Verna), cousins Laura, Bradley, and Stacia Hastings, cousins Joe and Ruth Simpson, and several other close relatives.
The family is very thankful and indebted to care giver Tracy Schwartz and also Hearth Hospice for their wonderful unselfish care. A private memorial service will be held for family members. A separate public Celebration of Life will be held in the near future, and the details for that event will be announced soon.
