Byron A. Johnson, 62, of Cleveland, passed away on August 8, 2022, at a local hospital. He was born on May 27, 1960, to the late James I. Johnson and Carrie Belle Westfield Johnson.
Byron graduated from Charleston High School in 1980. He was a fan of all sports, and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed dancing, singing, music and spending time with family and friends. He was employed by Whirlpool for 20 years, and for the past 10 years he was employed by Tri-State Truss Co.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rayce A. Johnson; and niece, Victoria Y. Westfield.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his wife, Terri Wilson Johnson; stepdaughters, Taylor Moore and Tia Moore; siblings, Carol Westfield (Vicky), Terrail Johnson (Lavinia), Becky Hickey, Randy Johnson (special friend, Lorraine), Dacyal Johnson (Vance); sister-in-law, Sandra “Faye” Farris; special aunts, Delois McCleary and Betty Person; uncle, Dr. Harry M. Johnson, Sr. (Len); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Byron’s family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Greens Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Rev. Harry M. Johnson will be officiating. Byron will be laid to rest following the service at Fort Hill Cemetery.
