Tyler Brett Steagall of Chattanooga, Tennessee, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, September 18, 2022, following a brief illness.

He was born to James Allen Steagall, III and Kimberly Gaye Steagall on November 10, 1987.  Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jean Delores Steagall, Grady Bradley Cagle and Kathryn Virginia Cagle as well as by his cousin, Justin Reid Massingill.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Brett is survived by his mother, Kimberly Gaye Steagall, his father, James Allen Steagall, III, his grandfather, James Allen Steagall, Jr., his best dog-pal Vera, his aunts and uncles: Vickie Cain, Paulette Cagle, Connie Massingill, Sherrill (David) Stoner, Vickie (Jim) McKoon and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Hawke, his cousins: Lauren Cain, Rachel Massingill, Carson McKoon, Kendall McKoon, Dustin Ridley, Ryan Ridley and Casey Ridley, as well as numerous step-cousins and second cousins.

Brett attended Hixson High School, where he played varsity baseball, and Chattanooga State College. Professionally, he spent his 15-year career as co-owner with his grandfather of a family business, S.S. Wholesale Supply Company. Additionally, Brett was co-partner in Tyler James Properties.

Brett loved spending time with his family, was a huge fan of sports (Mr. Sports Trivia), enjoyed architecture, music of all types (as his best dog-pal Vera was named from lyrics of a Pink Floyd song) and any warm sandy beach.  Brett was a kind soul and fiercely loyal to the ones he loved.  His easy going, humble and unpretentious personality, along with his dry wit sprinkled with light sarcasm, endeared him to everyone. Above all, Brett was a good son. He loved his parents unconditionally with all his being and was a true friend and confidant to both.

And finally, to our son Brett:

Always know that those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
Truly, Always, Forever. Rest well My Son, rest well.

A private service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to McKamey Animal Center, Chattanooga.
