Mary Bunch
Mary Elizabeth Hogan Bunch, 95, of Cleveland, TN died peacefully at home on November 8, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Willow Grove, Tennessee on January 2, 1928. She was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University where she was voted Tech Sweetheart. She was a teacher for 43 years in various locations including Germany, Washington, & Missouri. After moving to Cleveland, she spent the last 30 years of her career teaching in the business department at Cleveland High School. She served as the golf coach for the boys’ varsity team for 15 years before retiring in 1998. She enjoyed reading, watching all sporting events and traveling. She was a devoted member of Central Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Pauline Hogan; brother, D.W. Hogan of Cleveland, and her husband of 42 years, Roy L. Bunch.
She is survived by her son, Roy (Jude) Bunch of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Ann Murray of Hixson, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer Murray of Hixson, TN; Parker (Becca) Bunch of Phoenix, AZ; Brandon (Haley) Murray of Hixson, TN; sister in law, Shirlene Hogan of Cleveland, TN; sister, Anna Grace Poteet of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Bobbie (Richard) Moulton of Rising Sun, MD; several nieces and nephews, and her long time, devoted friend, Martha Wattenbarger of Cleveland, TN.
Mary's family is eternally grateful to her caretakers, Hospice staff, and Hospice nurse, Jenny Bryan, who helped keep her happy and comfortable during her final days.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga (Cleveland Program).
