Joyce Ann Clift Carden, of Hixson, went to her heavenly home on November 27, 2023, after a recent illness and decline in a local hospital. She was 87.

On the day she was expected to go home God decided he needed her in heaven more. Our hearts were saddened but, they were happy that her suffering was over. She is now with her husband of 50 years again and her mother who she deeply missed.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and neighbors especially the hall family who seemed like family. Joyce was a CAN at Erlanger hospital for 14 years. She loved cooking and planting flowers in her yard. Joyce loved going to the Smokey Mountains every summer with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Herbert L. Clift and Bertha M. Clift. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwin Carden; brothers, Warren Clift, Edwin L. Clift, Robert Clift and Kenneth D. Clift; sisters, Catherine Durgerian, Mildred Workman and her twin Sister, Jewell Clift; and also a grandson, Steven E. Carter, Jr.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Virginia Sue Chambers of Hixson, brother, Raymond Don Clift of Hixson; daughters, Susan (Robert) Brown of Dayton, Patricia (Michael) Eslinger of Chattanooga; grandsons, Warner R. Harvey, III of Dunlap, Patrick Harvey (Lucy) of Soddy Daisy, and Andrew Beeby of Nashville, great granddaughter, Lana Harvey of Dunlap; great grandsons, Rylan Harvey Reed Harvey, and Ryder Harvey all of Soddy Daisy; step-granddaughter, Melissa Eslinger of Texas; step-grandson, Jason Eslinger of South Carolina, six step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
