Catherine “Catch” Forney Ingle, 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 21, 1931, to Catherine Deming Forney and Lt. Edward H. Forney, USMC. Catch spent her early school days moving around the country and living on several Marine bases. She eventually moved to Chattanooga and graduated from Chattanooga (City) High School. While attending the University of Chattanooga, she met her future husband and the love of her life, Edward Ayers Ingle. They married in 1954 and would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on February 13 of this year.

Catch was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was known for her beautiful smile, her kindness and hospitality, and her gift of looking at the bright side of all things. Along with raising five children, she was a volunteer with the Ladies of Charity, enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels for Senior Neighbors, and loved being a member and hostess for the Dirt Dabbers Garden Club and YMCA Reindeer Group. She was also a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and spent many hours ironing the linens for Mass.

Catch is survived by her loving husband, Ed; sister, Pat Pennebaker; five children, Alice Ingle Krug, Beth (Robert) Lee, Carole (Sam) Weems, Andy (Kari) Ingle, and Debbie (Michael) Callahan; 12 grandchildren, Ty (Christine) Krug, Catherine Krug, Alston (Julie) Cumming, Warren Lee, Peyton (Seth) Lee Gannon, Anne (Brian) Burley, Marybeth (Sarah Connette) Campeau, Hannah Ingle, Drew Ingle, Deming (Sam) Callahan Wehby, Kiernan Callahan, Ayers Callahan and five great-grandchildren, Clara and Beau Krug, James and Conor Burley and Wren Elizabeth Cumming.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.

The family will also receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OLPH at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, with Father Mike Nolan officiating. Internment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
