Maxie Lynn Thomas, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Ethel, Ms., to the late Eldon L. Nowell and Inez Reynolds Nowell. She graduated from Ethel High School in 1951 and was married to Coy E. Thomas for 25 years. She retired from St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tn. where she worked as a certified nursing assistant. Maxie loved birds, butterflies, and flowers which speaks about her sweet nature.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Nowell Bishop.

Maxie is survived by her brother Larry Nowell (Brenda) and four children: Dr. Linda Hill, Allen Thomas, Brenda McCord, and Sharon (Dr. Edwin) Thorpe. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Michael Thomas, Jamie Bunch, Leigh Anne Humphries, Cory Wiles, Nathan Evans, Trey McCord, and Angela Franklin; and four great-grandchildren, along with several loved extended family members.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at New Hope Baptist Church in Kosciusko, Ms., with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a service at the church at 11 a.m. and interment at New Hope Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga.
