Our son, Rau'Shaun Armon Simmons, 22, originally of Toledo, Oh., departed this life unexpectedly on February 1, 2023 in Cleveland.
Rau'Shaun was born Oct. 9, 2000 to father, Ronniel Lewis and mother, Shawntelle Simmons, in Toledo, Oh. He attended Springfield City School in Springfield, Oh. before the family relocated to Cleveland. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 2020, where he participated in football and track and field.
Rau'Shaun is a beloved son, father, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He had a charming smile with a contagious personality that could light up a room. To know him was to love him. His zeal for life was unmatched. He was extremely athletic, outgoing and loved the company of others. His uplifting and encouraging spirit was known by everyone, no matter the circumstance. Rau'Shaun lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed, above all else, spending time with his daughter and family.
He is survived by parents, Shawntelle and Matthew Simmons; and siblings, Matisyn Simmons, Mason Simmons and daughter, Ka’Mya Ann Harvey, all of Cleveland, TN.
He also leaves grandparents, Cliff and Georgia Lewis, of Toledo, Oh.; aunts, Sharon White, of Toledo, Oh., Valentina Wilson, of Cleveland, LaTosha Simmons, of Cleveland, and Yolanda Wilson-Hall, of Toledo, Oh.; uncles, Cliff Lewis, Jr., Tony (Tracie) Lewis, Michael Lewis and Keith Simmons, all of Toledo, Oh.; cousins, Marlaysha Hooker, Marianna Hooker, Marlon Hooker, Jr., Jayelan Simmons, Riahn Graves, Alanah Graves, VaShawn Carrington, of Cleveland, Greg (Ashley) White and Christian White, of Toledo, Oh.; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
His family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
