Bettie Jane Manard Woolwine, 95, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 10, 2023.

She was born in Knoxville on March 11, 1927, and graduated from Knoxville Central High School in 1945. She attended Carson-Newman University. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother. Through the years, she has resided in Knoxville, Morristown, and Chattanooga, then returned to Knoxville, and recently moved to Morningview Village in Maryville. While in Chattanooga, she worked at Provident (Unum) Insurance Company for 15 years and loved her volunteer work at Memorial Hospital for 13 years. She is a charter member of Manley Baptist Church in Morristown, was a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Chattanooga, and most recently a member of First Baptist Church, Knoxville. She invested her life in her family, church, and community. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, antiquing, and growing flowers.

Bettie was preceded in death by parents, S.O. and Lillian Mae Rouser Manard and husband, Fred Ashley Woolwine, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Fred (Ricki) Woolwine; daughters, Gracie (Earl) Stroup, and Sylvia (Dan) Stone; grandchildren: Nathan (Amy) Woolwine, Seth (Cori) Woolwine, Katie Hetrick, Matthew (Charlotte) Stone, Andrew (Anna-Ruth) Stone, and Phillip Stone; great-grandchildren: Nate Woolwine, Sally Woolwine, Charlotte Barker, Elise Woolwine, William Hetrick, Mark Hetrick, Lillian Mae Stone, Ava Jane Stone, and Josephine Stone.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Morningview Village in Maryville for the exemplary care while she was a resident for over two years. Also, our gratitude to those who so graciously cared for her nightly in recent days.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 18, from 1-2 p.m. in the main sanctuary at First Baptist Church, 510 W. Main Street, Knoxville, Tn. 37902 with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow with David Mosher officiating. The Ruth Class and Women on Mission Group of First Baptist Church of Knoxville will be special honored guests.
A private family graveside will be held at a later date at Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, 136 Harvest Lane Maryville, TN 37801.
