Ricky Joe Steed, 63, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Ricky was born on June 15, 1959, in Fort Gordon, Ga. to the late Charles and Dorthy Steed. He enjoyed reading, watching movies and sports, and listening to rock music. Ricky was of the Baptist faith.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Tonya Steed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Clarista (Joe) Brooks, of Chatsworth, Ga., Melanie (Dean) Vann, of Dalton, and Jennifer (Ricky) Pierce, of Dalton; sisters, Linda (Tim) Rentschler, of St. Louis, Mo., and Debra Steed Schmehl, of Brandon, Fl.; his brother, Tony (Ginger) Steed, of Etowah; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his partner, Debby Puckett; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Graveside service will be held at Goodsprings Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend Noel Caldwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ricky’s name to help with his final costs.
