Shamblin, David Gordon

Kind, Generous, And A Man Of Strong Religious Conviction

  • Thursday, June 1, 2023

David Gordon Shamblin, 68, of Nashville, Tennessee, died on May 19, 2023, in Nashville.

David Gordon Shamblin was a kind and generous man who often could be seen smoking a cigar with his massive numbers of friends, whether at a cigar shop or on the golf course. A socializing person, he was commonly seen talking with his peers with a hint of humor and a deep interest in knowledge. An extraordinarily intelligent person, and being an investor/trader for much of his adult life, some of his educational accomplishments included graduating from McCallie Boys Preparatory School for High School in Chattanooga, receiving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, ('78), and completing all but a few hours of his Masters of Divinity at Harding University Graduate School of Religion in Memphis.

A man of strong religious conviction, throughout his 68 years he was known in communities throughout Tennessee and beyond to be a steadfast person who could be relied on to many as well as a husband of 40 years to Gwen Henley Shamblin (Divorced 2017). Also, he was a beloved father and best friend to their children, Michael Shamblin and Michelle Elizabeth Shamblin Hannah, as well as blessed with eight grandchildren.

Being born and raised in Chattanooga, his last wish was to be buried next to his father and mother (Gordon and Irene Shamblin) at the Chattanooga Funeral Home.

He will be greatly missed by his children as well as his older brother, Charles (Charlie) Shamblin and a huge number of others. David Shambin, we love you.
