Phyllis L. Dunning, 64, passed away on May 23, 2023, in Chattanooga.

She was born to Samuel J. Dunning Jr. and Maxine R. Dunning on Oct. 26, 1958. Phyllis worked in housekeeping for over 25 years and eventually retired from NHC of Chattanooga.

Phyllis was a great woman. She had a heart of gold. She was the best cook in the world. The food was so good because it came straight from her heart. Singing was her passion, but making sure everyone else was taken care of is what drove her. She will be truly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Ronnie Porter and Verdas (Victoria) Johnson; daughter, Ms. Dylon Porter; twin brother, Phillip Dunning; and sister, Rhonda Smith; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Phyllis will lie in state from 2–6 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
