King, Rev. Charles "Chuck" David (Cleveland)

  • Friday, June 2, 2023
Rev. Charles “Chuck” David King, 88, dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather and friend to so many, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 30, 2023, and now rests in the arms of Jesus.

Chuck (the name most people knew him by) was married to our mom, Lois “Yvonne” King, for 67 years. He graduated from Escanaba High School in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and joined the Air Force in 1954. After marrying our mom in 1956, it wasn’t long before Chuck got “saved to the bone” and our family would never be the same.

Dad never met a stranger, and every person he encountered became a close friend, a colleague or someone he could pray for. He loved to pray for people and saw many miracles during his ministry. He was a prayer warrior! Above all else, he loved the Lord and His Word! Our dad pastored for over 50 years (mostly in Michigan) and did missions work all over the world.

Dad loved his children and grandchildren and involved himself in their lives whenever possible. He was either ice skating, going to ball games, playing basketball, listening to their musical abilities, bowling with them or attending their graduations.

Dad was one of 10 kids and raised five children who adored him, David (Susan) King, Craig (Judy) King, Deidre (Bob) King-Sovereen and Ryan (Heather) King, and Randy King (our oldest brother who passed in 2021). He was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, Shannon Cassada, Sabrina Owens, Gabriel King, Tyler King, Summer Payne, Jared King, Alex Singleton, Grayson King, Zachary King, Benjamin King (preceded in death in 2022), Jeremy Dodder, Joshua Dodder, Christian Dodder, Ashlyn Sovereen, Katelyn Sovereen, MacKenzie King, Xavier King, Jaxon King and Seth King. Dad was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, Teigan Cassada, Raleigh Cassada, Zander Cassada, Brielle Owens, Laydon Owens, Hadley King, Landry King, Nadia King, Sebastian Payne, Lucia Payne, Owen Dodder, Ella Dodder, Benjamin Dodder, Kalen Dodder, Kalel Dodder, Beckham Dodder and Ariana Dodder; and step-great-grandchildren, John Caruso, Robert Caruso, William Caruso and Josiah Caruso.

Our dad left a Godly legacy for all of us! His favorite song was, “Something Got Ahold of Me.” Well, God did and He never let go!
