Cherokee Area Council Scouts Serve Their Communities

  • Thursday, June 29, 2023
Local Cherokee Area Council Scouts spend their time enjoying lots of adventures, serving their communities and learning new skills.

All ScoutReach units worked on conservation projects in honor of Earth Day. Pack 3138 planted a peach tree, a plum tree, two azalea bushes, flowers and started vegetable seeds for their garden. They learned how to plant a tree and shrubs, and about the benefits to the environment (4th & 5th Graders working on Into the Wild Adventure).

The flower garden had to be weeded and soil added, as well as planting the flowers.
This work was completed by second & third graders.  Kindergarten and first graders started vegetable seeds. All of this was made possible by The Home Depot of Chattanooga and Fort Oglethorpe.

Troops 44 and 20 each spent a day cleaning up their communities. They picked up four bags of trash, plus large items such as car tires and a large cable spool.
