Frankie Whitmire
Frankie Whitmire, 72, of Ringgold, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
She is a daughter of the late Charlie and Lynn Clark Gray. She has lived most of her life in Ringgold and was a member of the Anchor of Hope Baptist Church. Frankie loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild more than life itself. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She had the biggest heart and was always helping and giving to others. She was always full of life and made a huge impact on the lives of others.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Charlie Whitmire; son, Scottie (Tasha) Whitmire; daughter, Sandra Whitmire (Phil Pitts); brothers and sisters, Charles Gray, Mary Leonard, Martha Galyon, Jimmy Gray and Jerry Gray; grandchildren, Madison Whitmire, McKinley Pitts and Carrigan Pitts; great-grandson, Eli Raymond.
Frankie loved to spend her days mowing her yard, working in the garden and growing things. She also enjoyed co-hosting for the UCTV morning and evening local talk shows since 2017. In her younger days, she drove race cars in the women’s powder puff and played softball for over 30 years. She was one heck of an athlete! And nobody loved watching golf and ball games as much as she did — she was a huge fan of Tiger Woods, Tennessee basketball, her Lady Vols and Lady Mocs softball teams, and Kentucky football.
Frankie worked hard and gave generously of herself to make her local community a better place. She served as an ambassador for the Catoosa and Walker County Chambers of Commerce and was an active member of the RBI Club for the UTC Mocs and the Kiwanis of Fort Oglethorpe. She was thoroughly involved with the North Georgia Dancing with the Stars for Primary Healthcare. She was involved with the Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy Center, Stockings Full of Love, LFO Softball and others, YMCA Communities and Schools, Children’s Advocacy Center, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and many others. Frankie will hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew her and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Whitmire will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with J.C. Grove officiating. Interment in the Anderson Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Lee Gray, Travis Galyon, Ric Metcalf, Richard Tharpe, Eddie Upshaw and Adam Knight. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Killian and Matt Farmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
