Home Helpers Home Care recognizes Ashley Powers with the company’s National Exceptional Caregiver Award. There are hundreds of Home Helpers Home Care  across the country and thousands of caregivers, but only four caregivers received the Exceptional Caregiver Award this year.

Ms. Powers works for Home Helpers Home Care of Cleveland – a local franchise owned and operated by Elena and Kevin Dillon. The Dillons said they are thrilled with the award because of the impact they see Ms. Powers making for her clients every day.

“There are caregivers who just know what to do and Ashley is one of those people," said Ms. Dillion. "She knows what to do, she handles it calmly and clients always feel more secure when she’s there. It’s amazing to have people like Ashley. I love our clients and she loves our clients. I know our clients are her priority because she loves them too."

“There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing you made a difference in somebody’s life and that you’ve made their life easier," said Mr. Dillion. "Ashley brings that to the table every single day. She’s definitely makes a difference in her clients’ lives."

For Ms. Powers, the work is all about making clients’ lives easier, even if it means driving more than an hour to and from a rehabilitation center after a client had a stroke. She is proud to help her clients live safe, independent lives.

“When people go from being able to do things on their own to needing help, it’s takes away their pride . But you have to be positive about it – I’m here, everything is okay, I know it’s hard, but let me help you so those things are easier,” Ms. Powers said. “Knowing that I can make a difference is awesome. We’ll need someone to take care of us when we’re older. We’re all going to need to help at some point in our life and that’s why I do it.”
