Lon Lester Eilders, Sr., 77, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023.

Born in Freeport, Il., Mr. Eilders has been a resident of Chattanooga for most of his life.

He retired as a police officer from the City of Chattanooga after 40 years of service.

A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam, Mr. Eilders was a lifetime member of the Chattanooga Rifle Club and was also a member of the Chattanooga Friends Meeting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Eilders.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

Survivors are his children, Caitlin (Joshua) Grady; and Lon Eilders II.; four grandchildren, Rayna, Hayden, Damien and Olivia all of Chattanooga.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Mark Windon and Gretchen Hillis officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
