Spears, Tom

  • Saturday, September 30, 2023
Tom Spears, 77, of Soddy Daisy, immediately followed his wife of just shy of 50 years into the arms of Jesus. His broken heart couldn't bear to be without his sweetheart.

Tom was born in Jacksonville, Fl. to the late Charles and Catherine Spears. Growing up with an immense love for trains, Tom spent the happiest days of his childhood helping his dad manage locomotives, collecting tickets, etc. After high school, Tom served our country in the U.S. Army for six years during the Vietnam War.

After his military retirement, he met his beloved wife, Pat Spears, in the "happiest place on Earth" Disney World. Once he convinced her their love was meant to be, they stepped into life together and eventually had two children, Bryan Thomas and Kenneth LeBron. Tom's joy was found spending time with his family and spreading good cheer through writing personalized notes to those far and near.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Spears, as well as his brother, Rick Spears and sister, Pat Spears Gray.

He is survived by his children, Bryan and Kenny (Beth) Spears; and his sister, Jeri Spears.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at First Centenary UMC on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m., following visitation at noon, where the family will be receiving friends.

If desired, monetary donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of his beloved, or to any ministry involving children at First Centenary, as Tom and Pat spent their life focused on loving children, like our Jesus does.

Share a personal memory of Tom or your condolences with his family at his online memorial at www.companionfunerals.com.

Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
